Sixth
Grade
This was the year of the Sam Barthe Invasion in which
Lenny Gurvich, William Manning and Stephen Young, among others, arrived.
Wearing another's ID bracelet meant something good. and "couples" began
disappearing into the playground bushes adjacent to Haring Road. Martin
was heart-broken when Liz showed up one day wearing Thad Barringer's bracelet
after Martin was so noble in earlier making her the Service Club Co-Captain (gotta
see if those orange belt-things still exist). Catching bees in one's hands
became a "thing" for a while, and dozens of them buzzing in "baggies" drove Mr.
Fouchi nuts.
